Menoth in ’08, a Painting Promise

And so it begins…

With the Vilmon Project finished, I’m looking at the items remaining to be painted for my current Menoth army. Work is already underway on the Harbinger, but there are still quite a few more. As I mentioned on the About page, I tend to be a slow painter. The results are typically pretty decent, it just takes me a while. As a result, I have trouble getting an entire army completely painted.

Sure, I could theoretically just slap on some simple basecoat colors and call it a day, but then every time I looked at the model I’d think how much better I could have done if I’d actually tried. And that would, frankly, bug the bajebees out of me.

So what’s a glacial painter to do?

One thing I have found that helps me keep plugging away is keeping a painting log. Here on the site, or on various gaming forums that boast an artsy-fartsy section. It also helps with picking up the odd painting tip ;)

So, I’m setting out a personal goal. I want to be finished painting my army by the end of the year. This will not be a walk in the park, even though it’s “only” 18 models. Vilmon alone took about a week and a half start to finish, and I’ve only got about 12 weeks until year’s end.

I do, however, think I can Assembly Line about half of the minis since it’s just one big unit of Zealots, and those are fairly basic models (relatively speaking anyway). That should speed those up quite a bit. Hopefully it will be enough.

I reckon we’ll see. Tune back in every Thursday through the rest of 2008 for “This Week in Painting” and we’ll see if I can pull it off!
